Info Session: Understanding and Implementing the New CA Sick Pay Law

Join CNL on Thursday, January 29th from 8:00-9:30 am at the County Board of Supervisor’s Chambers for this information session around the new law. Set to take effect July 1, 2015, the law will cover all California employers who employ any full or part-time individuals in the state including seasonal employees who work at least 30 days per year for an employer. This information session will address:

  • The specific responsibilities and requirements that each employer must recognize in its sick pay program.
    • Posting of notices in the work area(s)
    • Regular individual notices to each employee as to their earning and use of sick pay
    • Record keeping requirements for all current and past employees for 3 years
    • Options each employer has in determining which of 3 approaches the law has recognizes as to how and when employees earn and accrue sick pay
    • The rights employees have to use the sick pay required by this law
  • The interface between the requirements of this law and any Sick Pay and/or Paid Time Off (PTO) policies that some employers currently provide for their employees.
  • Sanctions, penalties and fines for violations of the law.

Only $10 per attendee for member organizations and $15 for non-members.
