The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Nevada County (RSVP) places volunteers 55 and over in volunteer assignments matching their skills and interests with non-profit organizations and public agencies throughout Nevada County.

Over 500 RSVP volunteers are actively involved serving the community in areas such as the arts, schools and mentoring, home-delivered meals, libraries, hospitals, animal welfare, and much more. Volunteer opportunities are updated weekly and there is always something new available to explore.

While volunteering is enjoyable and personally rewarding, our local community gains enormous benefit from the lifetime of experience the volunteers bring to their service. Contributing their time enables volunteers to learn new skills, stay active, be part of the solution and make friends. RSVP’s mission is to support these volunteers and recruit others to service and civic engagement.

The program is sponsored in Nevada County by the Area 4 Agency on Aging which provides administrative and fiscal support for RSVP.  We operate with a full-time project director and 2 part-time volunteer and office coordinators.

How our organization benefits the community:
Currently, there are over 500 RSVP volunteers serving in numerous non-profit and community agencies throughout Nevada County.  Area 4 Agency on Aging has been serving seniors in Nevada County and 6 other counties for 40 years.

Anyone in Nevada County who wants to make a difference in our community is strongly encouraged to contact RSVP and learn about the various agencies and programs seeking volunteers. RSVP promotes volunteerism and encourages everyone to engage in community service whether it is working with children, seniors, animals or on community patrols, in hospital clinics or thrift stores.  Everyone is welcome to serve in a regular assignment or to volunteer when their schedule permits.
