  • Nonprofit Compliance Check List  California nonprofits have many forms to file each year, some with various departments of the State of California.  This comprehensive check list includes valuable information and direct links

  • Propel Nonprofits  – although in the Midwest, a great number of good resources.  Propel was created from the merger of Nonprofits Assistance Fund and MAP for Nonprofits
  • Independent Sector – the only national membership organization that brings together a diverse set of nonprofits, foundations, and corporations to advance the common good

  • Tax Exempt World – an information service with data that is public record information made available by the Federal Government

  • Wild Apricot Blog  – a blog dedicated to small associations and non-profits. They discuss challenges faced by volunteer and small-staff organizations, and cover web technologies that help you do more with less

  • 501(c) Services  – This organization facilitates an unemployment program alternative to State Unemployment Insurance taxes.  They also offer expert HR tools and advice.

  • findlaw.com – Thinking about starting a new nonprofit? Just want to know more about nonprofits? FindLaw offers a nice overview and set of articles on pertinent topics.
  • nolo.com –Online resource for legal information. Many articles and blog posts available free of charge. In addition, users can purchase books or request free books that span a variety of legal and financial topics related to nonprofit management.
  • nonprofitrisk.org –This Center helps minimize risks for nonprofit staff and volunteers, offering publications, a newsletter, library, consulting, and audits.
  • niac.org – Nonprofits’ Insurance Alliance of California provides information and works with local brokers to provide insurance coverage exclusively for the needs of California nonprofit organizations.
