Mission Statement and Purpose:
The Nevada County Fire Safe Council provides a range of educational and other services to enhance emergency preparedness for catastrophic wildfire in Nevada County. This is essential for all citizens in order to reduce the loss of life, property, and natural resources in the event of a catastrophic fire. We also partner and network with other Fire Safe Councils, governmental agencies and foundations as part of Firewise Communities/USA for the benefit of all of the Nevada County citizenry.
The work of our organization helps educate, motivate and assist and assist the citizen and policymakers in Nevada County to understand the significant and eminent threat of catastrophic wildfire in our region, while promoting a healthy ecosystem and economy. As volunteers, we act to coordinate stakeholders and the community to provide for our organizations’ continuity and success in achieving our mission.

The Fire Safe Council is a nonprofit, local volunteer organization dedicated to making Nevada County safer from catastrophic wildfire through prevent education, fire break clearing projects and the creation of Firewise Communities.
