The Development Director organizes and conducts the necessary activities to secure funding to support mission of continuing and increasing affordable home building activities.  This position works with the Executive Director, support staff, and Board Members to develop, implement and evaluate a long-term fund development strategy focusing on cultivating, increasing and acknowledging development resources. 

This is a Full Time position: 40 hours per week Tuesday-Saturday. Salary range: $69,000 – $72,000 exempt position depending on experience. Benefits: Paid Time Off, Health Insurance Coverage, Sick Time.

South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL)

SYRCL is founded on the premise that people can save a river.

The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL – pronounced circle) was founded in 1983 by grassroots activists determined to protect the South Yuba River from dams. Ultimately, SYRCL won permanent protections for 39 miles of the South Yuba River under California’s Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.

The Forest Health Project Coordinator will support the development and implementation of watershed health monitoring for the North Yuba Landscape Resilience Project (NYLRP). This Project is part of the Forest Health Program within the Watershed Science Department. This position will support the North Yuba Project Manager by expanding SYRCL’s existing water quality monitoring efforts on the North Yuba through the evaluation of forest health treatment impacts on watershed health. This role will work to integrate SYRCL’s existing water quality and hydrologic data at various locations on the North Yuba with expanded sampling sites and newly developed protocols focused on riparian zone health. Data analysis will examine how forest treatments impact hydrology and riparian habitat. The selected candidate will play a central role in SYRCL’s representation on the NLYRP Multi-Party Monitoring Committee. There is a significant growth opportunity with this position.  

This is a Full Time, Hourly position. The compensation package includes an hourly pay rate range of $26 – $29 per hour, depending on experience, starting paid vacation of 14 days per year earned on an accrual basis, 10 paid holidays, 5 paid sick days, 100% employer paid health/dental/vision insurance, and 2% 401(k) retirement match (fully vested after 3 years).

Seeking 2 English-speaking River Captains and 1 Bilingual Spanish/English-speaking River Captain

Each summer more than 800,000 visitors journey to the South Yuba River to soak in the sun and rejuvenate in its sparkling waters. Because of the Yuba’s popularity, it is at risk of being over-loved. SYRCL developed the River Ambassador program in partnership with the South Yuba River State Park to educate and inspire visitors to join the effort to keep the river clean, healthy, and safe. Each weekend from Memorial Day to Labor Day, teams of volunteer River Ambassadors and River Captains engage visitors in best stewardship practices by talking one-on-one with people at busy crossings, beaches, and trails.

River Captains help train and oversee River Ambassador volunteers to educate visitors about river safety and etiquette at assigned river crossings, including the Highway 49 bridge, Bridgeport, and Purdon Crossing. River Captains are also responsible for collecting programmatic data about visitors, trash collected, and interactions. While on-the-ground duties occur on weekends, River Captains can expect to spend two hours midweek in meetings and completing administrative duties, such as data entry, scheduling, and supply restocking River Captains average 15 hours per week.

NOTE: River Captains must be available to work weekends during the summer starting Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day weekend. Please only apply if you are available to work these dates. Applicants must also be available for training in May and as needed, in addition to post-program evaluation during the first week of September. 

Part-time, Temporary Employee, (May – September 2024). Compensation will be $16.50 to $18.00 per hour; this includes all training, post-program evaluations, and required meetings.

UC Master Gardener Program

The UC Master Gardener Program seekss to extend research-based knowledge and information on home horticulture, pest management, and sustainable landscape practices to the residents of California.

This position will perform the full range of program implementation duties. They will be responsible for the coordination, management, and delivery of education to community members through a combination of direct education and volunteer management. This includes training, guiding, and supporting volunteer extenders with education, information, and resources; evaluating program implementation; collecting and compiling enrollment, documentation, and evaluation data from volunteer extenders and participants; and writing reports in compliance with funding requirements.

This position is Full Time with a compensation range of $21.89 – $29.12/hour and is based in Auburn.

Hospitality House

Hospitality House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit emergency shelter and housing provider, serving low-income and homeless residents of Nevada County. Hospitality House bridges the gap between homelessness and housing by offering shelter, housing resources, and a variety of wraparound services designed to help residents transition from homelessness to housing. Hospitality House envisions a community where accessible, permanent housing is available to all in Nevada County.

Under the supervision of the Shelter Manager, the Case Manager 1 position is responsible for assuring quality service to all program participants in a compassionate, professional, and cost-effective manner. Under the supervision of the CalAIM Program Manager, the CalAIM Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for performing Hospitality House’s California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) Medi-Cal Billing. This includes referral submission, claims submission, data collection compliance, and relevant reporting as required by the CalAIM program. Under the direction of the HR Director, the HR Specialist assists in the completion of HR tasks including but not limited to drafting and completing forms, managing databases, and implementing training programs. The HR Specialist is also responsible for administrative and office duties; implementing the agency’s benefits and compensation program; assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding; supporting the HR Director’s employee relations efforts; and overseeing the agency-wide training programs. This person is a custodian extraordinaire—someone gifted at tinkering, fixing, professional purchasing, and maintaining a variety of building and facility related projects. While custodian-related activities are the primary focus, the Facilities, Maintenance, and Purchasing Supervisor assists in other meaningful areas to support Hospitality House in its mission to transition people from homelessness to housing. Miners Foundry

The Miners Foundry Cultural Center is a living historic treasure serving Nevada County as a cultural arts and community events center. More than a venue, the nonprofit’s mission is to preserve, enhance and utilize the historic Miners Foundry for cultural, educational and social activities in Nevada County. The Operations Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing the day-to-day operations
of the organization. Performs tasks related to facility management, bar management, event
production, health & safety, human resources, and administration. Works closely with the
Assistant Director to ensure the Foundry operates efficiently, follows best practices, and
complies with legal requirements. Supports Foundry staff by ensuring they have the necessary
resources and training to do their best work and fulfill the Foundry’s mission. Candidates must

Animal Place

Founded in 1989, Animal Place is one of the oldest and largest sanctuaries for farmed animals in the United States. As an animal rights organization, we promote the complete protection of farmed animals and a vegan lifestyle. There are two facilities: a 600-acre sanctuary in Grass Valley, CA, that serves as a permanent safe haven for farmed animals, and a 12-acre Rescue & Adoption facility in Petaluma, CA

The Animal Caregiver (live-in) is responsible for the cleaning, feeding, and medicating of the animal residents as well as supervising animal care staff and volunteers. You work under the supervision of the Animal Care Manager and alongside a team of dedicated caregivers to provide care of the 300+ animals (pigs, chickens, cows, turkeys, sheep, goats, rabbits, donkeys, tortoises) at the sanctuary. This position is 40 hours/week, days vary; schedule subject to change at any time, required to work weekends and most holidays. The Salary is$17/hour, performance evaluation after 6 months

Benefits include health insurance after 90 days, 180-day probation period for live-in caregivers, 403b (Animal Place matches 3% after one year), vacation, holiday and sick time package, 500$/year veterinary stipend. 

On-site Housing: 1-bedroom apartment on sanctuary grounds, including utilities. One-person occupancy limit. Companion animals are subject to approval. Start Date is June 1, 2024
