Executive Director Leadership Academy

The Center for Nonprofit Leadership’s Executive Director Leadership Academy is a ten-month seminar series offered about every 18 months or so. CNL will convene a new cohort in September of 2025. Please check back for more details and application opening in June. (participation is limited).

This focused series is designed to build and enhance management knowledge and skills as well as develop and hone leadership abilities. This seminar offers executive directors a rare opportunity to sharpen skills, interact and learn among peers, and hear about best practices from topical experts. By studying together and interacting with class participants, the series provides opportunities to better understand how you can motivate, inspire and impact those around you.

Sessions include, but are not limited to, assessing your strengths and leadership skills, effective decision making and delegation, presentation skills, conflict resolution, building a high performance team with employees and boards, the ED role in philanthropy, finance and more. 

Selected candidates will meet one-day a month, in person, on the 3rd (mostly) Friday for four hours from 8:30am – 12:30pm over a ten – month period.

The Series dates for the 2025-2026 Cohort are:

  • September 19th
  • October 17th
  • November 14th (shifting to 2nd Friday due to holidays)
  • December 12th (shifting to 2nd Friday due to holidays)
  • January 16th
  • February 20th
  • March 20th
  • April 17th
  • May 15th
  • June 19th

This 10-session series will have a fee of $900, which is less than $100 per 4 hour session, and includes fees for assessment tools and breakfast for attendees each month
