When: Tuesday, April 26, 2022, 9:30am- 11am
Via Zoom
Attendees will receive Zoom log in information upon payment and registration
Presenter: Becky Lunders of teamWorks

In this training, organizations will learn to strategize on how to best connect and utilize volunteers in the current landscape. COVID-19 has caused a major shift in the way we leverage volunteers, but one thing has not changed: the need for strong relationships. Join CNL and presenter, Becky Lunders as she shares the volunteer management strategies of her company, teamWorks.

Attending nonprofit staff and boards will:

  • Explore why organizations need two types of volunteers: leaders and worker bees in order to reduce burnout and build capacity
  • Identify where to find these volunteers in your community (and in your own organization!)
  • Brainstorm with other nonprofits so we can tap into these people and systems that will help us make a greater impact

This 90 minute virtual workshop will address the need to do things differently to recruit, retain and recognize volunteers. We can no longer take for granted that volunteers will keep coming back without a little nurturing!  This session will help your team move from reactive (or crisis mode) into a much more calm space of proactive volunteer management.

Congratulations, they said YES! But getting the grant is just the beginning.  Ideally, this first yes will turn into a long and fruitful relationship–you’re helping a funder achieve their goals in addition to them helping you.  Stewarding that funder as you would a valued donor is essential to creating that positive, long-term relationship–explore how in this 90 minute online workshop.  Delivering on your programmatic promises is one way to do that–we’ll explore best practices for multi-year grant fund management to ensure you can continue to deliver, even into years two, three, and beyond with strong financial planning.  But often equally as important is proper invoicing, as well as timely and compelling reporting.

Suggested Participants: Staff or Members of any organization looking to broaden understanding of stewarding funders and grant dollars, including but not limited to: Executive Directors, Development Directors and/or staff and volunteers

Your time is the most valuable asset your organization has.  Knowing if your organization and program area is a good fit for a funder before applying is essential. Presenter: Julie Pokrandt, Development Director, South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL)

To be competitive in the grant world the funder must be an excellent fit for the organization’s mission and specific program goals.  Then, one has to effectively communicate that fit in a way that follows the funder’s guidelines and specifically addresses their questions. Often, that is easier said than done, especially with the variety of questions proposals may ask and answer length restrictions.  This 90 minute online workshop will address the need to specifically follow prompts, the value of clearly communicating purpose, goals, objectives and outcomes as well as tips and tricks for dos and don’ts. Also addressed will be some de-mystification around budgets and budget narratives.

Suggested Participants: Staff or Members of any organization looking to sharpen their skills for or begin to understand proposal writing: including but not limited to: Executive Directors, Development Directors and/or staff and volunteers

Virtual Workshop: 2-Part Cultural Intelligence Training

When:
Part I – January 19th: 10am – 12pm: Developing Language of CI – Building a Living Glossary
Part 2 – February 9th : 10am – 12pm: Mastering the Art of Crucial Conversations
Via Zoom

As leaders, organizations and communities we must continue to broaden our understanding around diversity, equity, and inclusion. CNL is partnering with Sacramento’s Impact Foundry to offer a 2-Part Cultural Intelligence Training to help prioritize this work for 2022.  Make a path to building the core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion into your nonprofit’s operations, as well as model those values as you advance your mission – register for this important offering.

Part I – January 19: 10am – 12pm
Developing Language of CI – Building a Living Glossary

Understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion in the post-2020 world requires a new language, and a new vocabulary, which is communicated through the lens of cultural intelligence. This language reflects a judgment-free perspective, which serves to bring different groups of people together through a common understanding, and appreciation of the lived experience of others. This module will educate the participants on the common language of DEI in order to create common understanding, and common connections among divergent groups of people within an organization.

Part II –  February 9 : 10am – 12pm
Mastering the Art of Crucial Conversations

Despite technological advances of our modern civilization, humans have an even greater challenge than ever before for maintaining effective communication. In this training module, you will learn new skills to create greater connectivity and meaningful collaboration among team members. We will address and provide tools for how to effectively communicate with others utilizing understanding and awareness, and how to navigate difficult, but crucial topics and conversations through the lens of emotional and cultural intelligence.

Suggested Participants: All Staff and Board Members of any and all organizations. Volunteers and committed community members also welcome
Date and Time:  Wednesdays, January 19th AND February 9th 10:00am – 12:00pm each morning
