The Center for Nonprofit Leadership
The Center for Nonprofit Leadership (CNL) is a member-based resource center for nonprofit organizations and individuals in Nevada County and beyond, providing seminars, workshops, peer learning and networking opportunities.  CNL is committed to helping nonprofits become effective and well-managed organizations, incorporating nonprofit best practices and industry standards for quality programming, transparency and sustainability.

Nevada County Pets in Need
The mission of Nevada County Pets In Need (NCPIN) is to provide financial assistance with pet food and veterinary care to residents of Nevada County.

By committing ourselves to this mission, we believe that we will help create a community that is more compassionate to all pets and people.

Sammie’s Friends
The mission of Sammie’s Friends is to provide medical care for the animals at the Nevada County Animal Shelter, making them adoptable, and to support other disadvantaged animals in Nevada County that, without help, would continue to suffer or would be euthanized. Sammie’s Friends has saved the lives of 28,000 animals and reduced the euthanasia rate from 68% to less than 1%.

Wildlife Rehabilitation & Release
Starving Hawks – Orphaned Baby Squirrels and Rabbits – Injured Songbirds – or Bats Unable to Fly.  Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release (WR&R) treats over 1000 injured or orphaned wild animals and birds each year and releases them back into the wild.  As an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, WR&R seeks donations for food, medication, vet bills and caging for orphaned and injured wildlife.

$25 will provide food for a Great Horned Owl for half a month or food for a nest of baby songbirds for a season
$250 will purchase the supplies needed to build a Squirrel release cage or veterinary costs for injured wildlife
$500 will purchase a new flight cage so that injured Songbirds to test their wings before release or for veterinary costs for a Bald Eagle

The Auburn Symphony

Miners Foundry Cultural Center
The Miners Foundry Cultural Center is a living historic treasure serving Nevada County as a cultural arts and community events center. Bright Futures for Youth is a nonprofit committed to making a life-changing difference for children and young adults in Nevada County. Bright Futures for Youth – created by the merger of The Friendship and NEO Youth Center – has three programs: The Friendship Club, founded in 1995, NEO Youth Center founded in 2008, and SAFE, launched in 2019 to help youth experiencing homelessness. Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation
Our mission at the Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation is simple – to build a better Nevada County Fairgrounds through fundraising and contributions to the Fairgrounds.

Formed in 2005 to support this mission, our fundraising efforts are focused on supporting and improving the health and beauty of the Fairgrounds, enhancing the community’s use of the Fairgrounds, and fostering projects that develop our local youth in agriculture.

Master Gardeners of Nevada County
Our mission is to inspire foothill home gardeners to embrace research-based, sustainable gardening practices so our community and environment thrive.

Master Gardeners offer:  Educational workshops both in person and recorded workshops on our website ncmg.ucanr.edu, Call-in radio show on KNCO (830AM dial) on Saturdays 10-noon, The Western Sierra Foothills Garden Guide for sale at local nurseries, and the Annual Plant Sale held the Saturday before Mother’s Day in May in the Demo Garden on the grounds of NID at 1036 West Main Street in Grass Valley.

$50 will buy daffodils for community beautification.  All the daffodils that bloom in spring along the highway were planted by Master Gardeners!
$100 will buy educational materials for our Youth Program featuring summer workshops in the Demo Garden.
$250 will buy propagation supplies needed for the spring plant sale: for example, vegetable and flower seeds, organic potting soil, 6-packs for seedlings.

Redbud Chapter, CA Native Plant Society
The CNPS Redbud Chapter champions the native plants of Placer and Nevada counties. We are one of 35 statewide chapters working to protect and celebrate California’s native plants. 

CNPS Mission Statement is to protect California’s native plants and their natural habitats, today and into the future, through science, education, stewardship, gardening, and advocacy.

ICCU Modernization Update: We are thrilled to share that we are now 96% of the way to our fundraising goal for the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU) Campaign! Thanks to your generosity, we’re getting closer to modernizing the ICCU, which provided life-saving care to 1,604 patients last year alone.

Our goal is to raise the remaining funds by December 31, 2024, with construction starting in 2025. Key upgrades include advanced telemetry systems, headwall improvements, and technology integration, all designed to enhance patient care, nursing efficiency, and comfort for families.

Hospitality House
The mission of Hospitality House is to provide pathways to permanent housing by compassionately bringing homeless people in Nevada County into a circle of community caring that offers shelter, housing resources, sustenance, opportunity, dignity, and hope as we assist them in transitioning from homelessness to housing.

The lack of affordable housing, especially in California, has caused a steady rise in homelessness. But in Nevada County, Hospitality House is here to help. Every donation makes a difference for our local residents – men, women, children, seniors, and veterans to receive essential services. Sierra Roots takes a relationship-based approach in our work with homeless people. We have specially trained volunteers who are dedicated to listening to homeless people and collaborating with them to make progress in their health, self-reliance, and action plans for secure, safe homes. One Source-Empowering Caregivers is a small nonprofit serving Nevada County for almost 10 years, supporting those who are taking care of their loved ones with heart disease, Parkinson’s, dementias, and so many medical conditions which keep them home bound..  One Source- Empowering Caregivers serves these clients with compassion and sensitivity.  The volunteers are often those who have been in-home caregivers in the past and are now wanting to give back.   This is the MISSION of One Source-Empowering Caregivers.
