Mission & Purpose:

Nevada County Arts Council is the hub for information on the arts in Nevada County and the “go-to” place for ways to get involved. By resolution of the Nevada County Board of Supervisors, we are the State-Local partner with the California Arts Council, facilitating collaborative efforts that promote and sustain the visual, literary and performing arts of Nevada County to advance the cultural, social and economic life of the community.

Nevada County Arts Council strives to make Nevada County a major cultural destination, where artists feel supported and audiences are well-served. We believe that in places where culture thrives, so do its people. Support for Nevada County Arts Council affirms the importance of art to life, history, community and growth.

Success Story: How has your organization benefited the community?

In 2017, the Nevada County Arts Council led the application process for state designation through the new California Cultural Districts Program. We are currently unique in California as the only rural county to be recognized for the breadth and diversity of its cultural assets in all of its incorporated communities. We celebrate the Grass Valley-Nevada City Cultural District and the Truckee Cultural District in our arts community. Our connection with the California Arts Council through its State Local Partnership Program helps us recognize unique opportunities, encourage cooperation and collaboration and ensure that the arts are recognized for their true value.

How does your organization hope to benefit from being a CNL member?

We hope to access tools for leadership and support within the arts community through our membership in CNL.

How can someone become involved with your organization?

Please contact us at 530-718-0727 or by email at director@nevadacountyarts.org.

We would love to talk about how we can support your works as an artist and how you can get involved with our cultural planning – whether you are an individual or an arts organization within any sector of our community. We can also help you find a fulfilling volunteer role within the arts and welcome you to the arts family as a valued member.
